Congratulations to London Lions teams who both became British Basketball League (BBL) and Women’s British Basketball League (WBBL) play-off champions this weekend, following on from their respective league wins.
The result was the second successive play-off win for the men’s team, while for the women’s it was their fourth, with both teams asserting their dominance over the competition.
With the score level at 85-85 with nine seconds remaining, Sam Dekker was the hero with a three-point shot from the right of court, after receiving from the BBL's Most Valuable Player this season, Matt Morgan – winning it for the league champions.
The women’s team result was less dramatic, but their victory completed a triumphant year which has also seen them crowned WBBL Champions, WBBL Trophy Champions and EuroCup Champions, becoming the first British champions in a European competition.
It is an incredible achievement and as the players take a well-deserved break heading into the off season, everyone here at Copper Box Arena sends their congratulations to both teams!
