With its rich history providing a platform and opportunity for young Londoners to showcase their talent, following the 2012 London Olympic Games, the London Youth Games’ legacy has only gone from strength to strength.
This years’ ceremony takes place on 28th -30th June and will see the basketball, netball, volleyball and table tennis finals played in the Copper Box Arena. Alongside the finals themselves, a ‘Finals Festival’ will also take place outside Copper Box Arena on East Cross Square and will be a chance for the community to further immerse themselves in the festivities of the weekend with live music and dance acts taking place. There will also be opportunities to get involved with a variety of sports, make new friends and learn something new!
London Youth Games Chief Executive, Andy Dalby-Welsh, said “We believe sport is a right for all. We are so grateful to all our partners who are supporting us in putting on this exciting event, from those who will be representing their boroughs to those who will be supporting and enjoying the festival site outside Copper Box Arena. We are excited that through competition, cultural performances, have-a-go sessions, and giveaways, we can demonstrate how the London Youth Games is ‘Every Young Londoner’s Games.’”
London Youth Games is an opportunity for young Londoners from all backgrounds and boroughs to experience incredible Olympic venues, meet Olympic athletes, try out new sports and learn how to make a positive impact in their local communities. It is a staple in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park calendar, and we are proud to see it return to Copper Box Arena for another year.
