The two GLL venue based teams faced off against each other this evening at the Copper Box Arena and it was the London team who came out on top.
Kevin Ware was on fire as the Lions strolled to a 105-81 home victory against Manchester Giants.
The American guard hit five of his six three point attempts and all three of his two point shots as he finished with 24 points and three rebounds in just 21 minutes. Dirk Williams also had a big night with 23 points in twenty minutes, while Josh Ward-Hibbert hit three treys on his way to ten points as all of the Lions' roster played at least ten minutes. David Ulph led the Giants with 17 points and eight boards.
The visitors started well, with the sides tied at 13 with six minutes gone, but Shane Walker's three launched an 11-2 run that saw Williams hit the other eight points, and Ware's jump shot sent the Lions into the first break with a 32-22 lead.
Aaron Geramipoor made it an eight-point game with the opening score of the second period but Liggins replied with a three points and Ware hit three straight triples to put Lions in charge as they reached half-time with a comfortable 61-42 lead - with Williams on 18 points and Ware with 17,
Lions didn't let up in the third period as three-pointers from Liggins, Robinson, Parker and Williams helped them go into the final break 87-57 ahead, and coach Vince Macaulay was able to give his talented bench plenty of court time in the fourth period as the Lions wrapped up the win and improved their league record to 11-4.
