London Lions had a weekend to remember with back to back wins at home at the Copper Box Arena to extended their lead at the top of the BBL Championship after a 91-74 victory over the Glasgow Rocks on Saturday and a 109 – 89 victory over the Newcastle Eagles.
In both games the Lions opened the game strongly and flew out the gates in the first half with some excellent basketball. On Friday in the win against the Newcastle Eagles centre Chris Tawiah, shone where he dropped a career-high of 26 points in what was a dominating and ruthless performance.
The Lions now have a slight break with the recent news that their semi-final against Manchester Giants in the cup has been forfeited by the Giants due to positive covid tests within their camp meaning the Lions can now look forward to a cup final on the 24th January a day before they are due to fly out for the next stage of their European campaign.
The Lions now lead the BBL standings outright with a 7 – 1 record and a 4 point lead over nearest rivals Newcastle.
